(Home) Creative Tea 4: Photo-Embroidery

Join us online in our 4rd Creative Tea workshop on Saturday, December 5th 11am to 1pm.

If you have received an Art Kit and want to join others in making your photo-embroidery, or if you want to do your own creative thing while having a chat together, either way you are welcome to make a cup of tea, bring your supplies and join us for a Zoom get-together.

This week, textile artist Sonia Tutiett and members of the East London Textile Arts group will be joining us to share skills and ideas about an upcoming project in Clapham Park. Make a tea, have a natter with your neighbours and be part of our community artwork to share in Spring 2021.

About the photo-embroidery project_ We have been working with residents over the past year embroidering photographs of the buildings in Clapham Park Estate. Photo-embroidery is a simple skill to learn for all ages, and is a beautiful and unique way to commemorate a photograph. Our plan is to have a complete collection of hand-embroidered photographs with facts and anecdotes about each building, and will be exhibiting the collection at an exhibition in Spring 2021.

This project was developed by photographer Marcia Chandra in collaboration with textile artist Sonia Tuttiet (East London Textile Arts) for the Clapham Park Creative Co-op.

How to participate_ Everyone is welcome! But please note:

  • Clapham Park area neighbours can request our free photo-embroidery Art Kit delivered to your house, and we’ll pick up the finished piece when you’re done!
  • If you are joining us from elsewhere, we will be sharing a list of what you need next week so you can order the supplies in time for the workshop.

About Creative Tea_ Every last Saturday of the month we will be getting together with Clapham Park neighbours (in person or from home) to make something creative together. Each month we will produce a new collaborative ‘artwork’ that tells a story about Clapham Park.
