Upcoming opportunities to learn photography and creative producing skills

The Clapham Park Creative Co-op has two FREE training opportunities starting this Saturday, March 9. The workshops are open to Clapham Park Estate residents as well as others interested in learning these skills and putting them into practice in a community setting.

All workshops will be held at the Clapham Park Community Resource Centre (we’ll be in the old one at 1 Headlam Road, SW4 8HP until the new one opens just down the road at the corner of Kings Ave. and Atkins Rd.).

Creative Producing – Saturdays 12-2pm, March 9 to May 4

In these sessions, participants will be learning how to produce an engaging creative community event, using the delivery of a May 4th Community Celebration to put skills into practice. The training course will cover all aspects of production, including creative planning, community engagement, fundraising, delivery and evaluation. While our focus will be for the May event, the types of community and organisational skills that will be discussed and put into practice are highly transferable and can be useful in many type of projects.

Photographic storytelling – Saturdays 2:30 to 5pm, March 9 & 23 and April 6 & 27

In this 4 week course participants will learn how to plan, shoot and edit a photography story using their own camera or smartphone. We will be researching ideas for stories to photograph on Clapham Park Estate and meet every other week to learn skills, review and publish our work together. All the stories will be exhibited as part of the Community Celebration on May 4th at the new community centre.
